PUNGO RIDGE WINERY is small farm winery located in the Pungo section of Virginia Beach ,VA. Pungo Ridge started in early 2010 and opened the tasting room in August 2011 with 50 cases of blackberry Wine our first year. We specialize in country wines made from local Pungo grown fruits such as blackberries , blueberries , strawberries , apples,pears plums and peaches . Most our country wines are fermented in stainless steel and left with a slight amount of residual sugar to retain the fruitiness character of the berry .
Fred Havens , a retired award winning photographer of over 35 years operates Pungo Ridge winery serving as General manager & owner , winemaker , Tasting Room manager , & Vineyard manager , & Beekeeper . His father , a retired Navy Photographer Officer volunteers in the Tasting room .
We farm approx 5 acres in Pungo , Virginia Beach ,VA. Also on the property is a
honey bee operation , for our honey wines (mead) , a pear grove , and several other fruit trees used in wine production . All wines come from 100%
Virginia produce , over half is grown on our estate . We are generally closed in the winter and early spring as we usually sell out before the end of the year.
