The firehouse became the hub of community activity. Events such as scout meetings, dance classes, civic league meetings, woman’s club meetings, parties and fund raisers were held there. It was a place where parents did not have to worry about their junior firemen. The boys loved it and would spend weekends shining up the trucks and working beside the community’s leaders helping people in crisis. It was where neighbors were caring about neighbors.
