The Icehouse Restaurant has been around for almost 100 years. It has been a Virginia Beach Landmark since 1910. In 1910 Harry Houdini was entertaining audiences, Theodore Roosevelt was president, the 1st Zeppelin took flight, Mother Theresa was born and Mark Twain died. These days restaurants come and go but the Icehouse has lived on mainly because they have never forgotten that your local eatery should be a warm and friendly place with an eclectic menu that has a little for everyone. When you come into the Icehouse Restaurant the first thing you will notice is how cozy the place is. The staff is friendly and they treat you like family. After all, the Icehouse Restaurant has been the main meeting place in South Virginia Beach for decades.  The “South End” as it has always been called is where the trains from Norfolk ended. The station was just across the street. The water tower, many warehouses and service business for the resort area were located here. Single family homes were built to house these workers and families. The Icehouse Restaurant became a meeting place for all the local fishermen and workers at the South End and is still an important part of our local community. Did I mention the food? Well you don’t stick around this long unless you serve high quality food.
